The Masque Of Bruma

The 2011 Golau Glau seasonal spectacular is here!

The Masque Of Bruma is a festive EP out now for free download from Bandcamp.

Golau Glau - The Masque Of Bruma

A masque is an amateur dramatic entertainment of the 16th to 17th centuries in England, consisting of pantomime, dancing, dialogue, and song, often performed at court. It seems appropriate for our motley collection of: a brand new song about the Icelandic myth of the Yule Cat, a radiophonic take on a classic mummers play, beautiful Christmas carols, a remix by Ghost Box‘s resident genius The Advisory Circle and a little wassailing.

Illustrations by the lovely Dom Cooper.

Hungry For Hunger

The new Frankie & The Heartstrings single, ‘Hunger’, is out this week and their album of the same name comes out on Monday (21st) on Wichita.

We remixed ‘Hunger’-the-song a while back, when the lads were still unsigned, and Huw Stephens played it on BBC Radio 1 and all that. Now the Frankies are rightfully getting huge, the plays of our remix have gone through the roof. You can download it for free here.

Sir We Drown

frame

We have a Tumblr at Golau Glau Go Tumbling – it takes an RSS feed from this blog but also we add videos, photos, links etc that we find interesting.

Recently Drowned In Sound started a Tumblr called drownedinsoundcloud as a digest of SoundCloud content on their website and a sort of pointer at interesting new music on the service. Recent posts have included Gold Panda, These New Puritans, Ben Frost and…us.

Thank you. Being in good company is always a pleasure. Go and follow them now.

Light Streams

sink

The Sonic Minefield have done a round-up of their current favourite streaming tracks, including the Blue Daisy remix of ‘A Better Drinker’ and new tune ‘Neuro’. They also write about our good friends worriedaboutsatan, whose new single ‘Heart Monitor’ sounded amazing from the little video trailers they’d been sneaking out but now is available to stream in full. Jimi’s blog is a good read, as usual, and TSM is one of our favourites for keeping on top of new and esoteric music:

Golau Glau have been working on more organic/medical themed material and so have worriedaboutsatan, it seems, and the Worriers (they’re @teamsatan on Twitter) are always worth a listen. The newie even has vocals, just at the point where we started doing instrumentals, it’s uncanny. Symbiotic relationship, there. Somehow.

We’ve also put some new photos up from a recent hospital visit, here: Clinic.

Snow Angels and Airwaves

Fishfinger-lover (no lie, no filth) Huw Stephens just played the Blue Daisy Snow Angel Remix of our tune ‘A Better Drinker’. You can stream it if you look at the post below this one. Form an orderly queue if you want to know when it’s going to be released properly, but bring biscuits and a sleeping bag and some of those fleecy pyjamas with feet, because we don’t know either. We don’t have a label, or cash. 12″ vinyl, please.
